A Changing Body

I read an account by an advanced tai chi student who related how after thirty years he was continuing to experience changes in his body from the practice.

I often think of how my practice reflects the continuing changes being made in my body. As much as multiple sclerosis and aging take away capabilities, the tai chi continues to make me stronger in some ways than I was when I was younger.

When the impatience for mastery and the desire for perfection recurs, I think of the above anecdote and remind myself that a practice with continuing improvements is one of the gifts of tai chi.
