My instructors would ask "what do you feel?"
Increasingly, my practice becomes internal. The awareness rides lightly on the sensations of internal energy movement. I am gradually learning how to rest in the internal movements generated by the tai chi forms. Can I reach this place in every practice? No. However, it is becoming more frequent.
Internal movement is generated by turning the lower belly and sacrum. Initially, by consciously using the muscles of the lower belly and subsequently allowing the movement to occur guided by intention. This is still very new.
These changes are particularly welcome: as multiple sclerosis moves in the direction of reduced movement, the tai chi wonderously improves movement. I can simultaneously lose and gain feeling.
